New House, new challenges

I moved successfully to the new house. The garage leaks in heavy rain and my dehumidifier can only keep it at 72% humidity at the best of times. The previous garage was normally at 45%. So I now have to store all my cloth and paper under my bed which isn't ideal as there is barley enough room for my bed as it is.

The last five months have been some of the worst times in my 45+ years and now we have Covid-19 to worry about on top of it. This is why I've not had any time to do any bookbinding but I think I'm almost to the top of this arduous hill on my life road.

So this is my new space. It is half the size as the last garage and it leaks.  There is only one power outlet and the lighting isn't that great.

I still have a ton of work to do. My VonHaus Garage Workbench has finally succumb to the English weather and all of the MDF is warped.  I will need to replace all of it.  It has lasted me seven years and four moves and it could use a bit of love and attention.  My metal pegboards I bought for my previous work bench will fit in it's place I just need to drill some new holes so I can bolt them to the workbenches metal frame.

Then there is a matter of going through all of the stuff and either keeping, donating, or selling it. Due to Covid-19 all the charity shops are closed and are not accepting donations so that is out of the question.  I've managed to sell two large containers of old hobby stuff I no longer use that freed up a shelf on my metal racking.

I'm jealous of many of my friends as they are all at home in quarantine. However as a "Key" worker I still have to go to work 48 hours a week. I'd much rather be home getting my garage in order, reassembling my 3D printer and getting back to bookbinding.

I have some ideas for slip cases and box making as well so I hope to post something on that soon!  Stay safe, stay at home if you are able, and for those of us that are required to venture forth to earn our pay cheques wash your hands frequently!
