City and Guilds 119 day 4

So a little bit of a better day despite having to constantly mop my brow because the heat was again too hot. Also in the background all day was the noise of tanks and artillery fire as the Army practices on the Salisbury Plain.

Started with getting my slip case made, which was done slightly different than how I've been doing them so that was exciting.  I like to learn more than one way how to do these things.

So the above is my finished Continuous Photo Album.  Despite all the trouble it gave me it turned out half decent.

I got stuck in to the slipcase and forgot to take some early assembly pictures.

It wasn't as well done as my previous slipcase but there is that rush for time when you are in a class with other people. Hrey interior to match the Japanese paper, and red cloth to match the spine and flowers on the paper.

So last project was up to us. One guy decided to make a slipcase for his other book, one woman went with a larger version of the sewn photo album and the other woman and myself decided to do another Continuous Photo Album since we had troubles and while we had an instructor present.

Preparation underway cutting the pages, stop guards, and cloth strips. I only have tomorrow to finish the whole album.

I eventually went with a plum colour instead of the red.

Getting the made end papers finished right at the end of class so I can nip them then put in blotting paper to absorb excess moisture between boards overnight.  Hopefully they wont ripple like last time.
