City and Guilds day 5

Last day of my five day course and it has really been a good experience. I finished up my last multi section link stitch bind. I was determined to get it right and I'm afraid that only added a bit of stress and I wanted to finish it before leaving so in the end I made a few small mistakes so it is less than I had hoped.

I chose the cover paper and book cloth as they complimented each other, the end papers are the same design but in purple, and the gold book mark to highlight the gold trim in the decorative papers. I selected plain white end bands to highlight the white flower's in the papers. However I should have used mix instead of PVA and this caused me to rush to get the paper down so my corners are not symmetrical. Also the book block slipped so it is slightly less than pleasing to look at.

I have learned a lot,  but still need to work on my patience. I don't work well with a limited time to finish a book (yet) but maybe I can start by trying to make single section binds in a specific time frame. I won't be working in any commercial bindry anytime soon.

I'm excited to put my new knowledge to work in my own little private bindry and even more excited to come back in October for two different five day courses with Shepherd's London Wiltshire location.
