I've only been doing this on and off for seven months. I'm very much a novice and I've made some horrible mistakes. I have been diagnosed with dyscalculia which makes numbers and measurements extremely difficult for me to get right. This is why I depend on a compass more than a ruler to do my measurements. Case in point the following case I did for an A6 notebook.
I got distracted while rapid piercing with the piercing cradle. Didn't really hurt and no blood was drawn.
Sewing the sections into a book block
All sewn and ready for the pages to be cut with the plough
Video of the plough in action
Nice clean cut!
Adding spine backing. I had run out of Mull so I used a cotton material.
I used my nipping boards to get the crease in the book hinge.
And boy did I get the spine measurement wrong!
And I didn't case it in square either.
However it is still a functional notebook
