My main nipping press is broken. I don't know the terms for all the parts but from what I can figure out is the rod screw has come out of the shaft that connects to the press plate. The shaft has a free spinning screw that fits into the rod screw. Every time I get them connected they just become unscrewed when I raise the press which means the free spinning screw isn't rotating allowing the rod screw to come free.
I greased it with white Titanium Grease and that didn't do it so it isn't a friction problem. I've now ordered some precision tools to remove the four star screws from the press plate.

I ordered some precision tools and was able to fix the nipping press!

It has now been broken for several days and I still have a book to finish for Hertford College Oxford. I can't tell you how annoyed I am!
